Two Model Exams for classes X and XII will be conducted during the months of January and Feruary respectively.

Social Service League
It is the Principal’s vision and mission that our children should develop a sense of social service along with their curricular activities. As part of this mission the students visited Providence Home, a home for the mentally challenged children at Killi, Kattakada. The gifts which were collected from the students were handed over to Sr. Jaisy, The Superior of Little Servants of Divine Providence. The students also entertained the inmates by playing musical instruments and by singing songs. As a follow up activity this group under the guidance of a senior teacher Mr. Joseph Louis will be visiting another Orphanage Home at Manvilla.

Christmas Fete 2006
Christmas festivities arrived on the campus when we held our Christmas Fete, a family day for all the members of the Christ Nagar family. It was a day to remember the birth of Jesus and to exchange gifts. Week of hectic preparation proved fruitful with an evening of extravaganza on December 2nd 2006. The audience was welcomed by the Principal Rev. Fr. Paul Mangad CMI. The Chief Guest Shri Mathew T Thomas, Hon’ble Minister for Transport, Govt. of Kerala delivered the Christmas message after lighting the candle. Shri V Shivankutty MLA was gracious enough to preside over the function. The variety program kicked off with a welcome dance. The main attraction of the evening was the depiction of the birth of Christ through the nativity scenes. The Santa Claus arrived to greet the children.

Chavara Fest
Christ Nagar English Higher Secondary School became the overall runner-up for the Chavara Fest getting 1st prize for group song and pot painting ,2nd for `Thiruvathira` and 3rd prize for Fusion dance and Mehendi Designing.

Career Guidance
A career guidance program was organized by our school counselor for the 12th std during the month of September. Mr. Antony John who is a senior software engineer was the resource person. The session touched different sectors in IT field, mainly pointing out the impact of IT in various other sectors like biology and commerce.

Kerala Piravi
Christ Nagar also joined hands in the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Kerala Piravi. There was a debate conducted for classes 11 and 12 on the 10th November.

Two class tests were conducted during the months of October an November.

Tours And Picnic
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. To take a break from the hectic academic schedule. One day trips and tours were conducted for all the sections. The trips were to Happy Land, Veegaland, Munnar, Kodaikanal etc.

PTA Meeting
The first session of the PTA meeting was held on the third and fourth weeks of November. Eager parents attended the same for close and critical analysis of the programs of their children. Later each one of them met the principal.

UP Assembly
To commemorate Children`s Day, the UP section conducted a special assembly. After the formal part, the assembly was graced by the student `Chachaji` who spoke to children lovingly about his hopes he had for the future generation. He then sat back to enjoy variety programs that included a song, recitation, skit, dance, drama, speech and instrumental music. It was a stage where kids could showcase their talents and be appreciated.

District Science Fair
Many students participated in the district science fair, and from among them Sanjeev nair of 5B and Daniel Johnson of 7A got 2nd prize for Science working model in the UP section. In the fair held at Kazhakuttam Higher Secondary School, Christ Nagar emerged first in the IT section. In a similar fair held at Kulathur Govt. HSS, Samrooth and Parvathy Dileep of 9C got second for math Project.

Science Fair
October 13th and 14th proved to be very busy at Christ Nagar English Higher Secondary School with earnest preparations for the 29th Annual Science fair. The theme of this year was `Science & Technology for sustainable development` October 14, a day of excitement witnessed the inauguration of the fair by Padmasree S Ramakrishnan, Project Director of GSLV MK III.He was the first rank holder for MTec in Aeronautical engineering from Chennai III. In his eloquent speech he stressed on the need for the future generation to work together to bring about a change in attitudes towards mother earth and to free earth from pollution. The ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Principal. Later the stalls were opened for viewing.

Inter -House Cultural Fest
It was a time of stiff competition among the four houses, each striving for the coveted first place. The day started off with the formal inauguration by our Bursar Rev Fr. Cyriac Kanayil CMI. The cultural activities began with a bang. Each house put in all efforts to present their best. The programs included items like Drama, Declamation, Group song, Group dance and a creative item. There were cheering groups for all houses. Expo House proved to be the best in the competition. It was really a memorable occasion.

Girl`s Cell
There is a special assembly conducted by the girl`s cell on October 10th. The teacher in charge Ms Annie Eapatchan organized the event. The chief guest Mrs.Sandhya IPS, City commissioner, Trivandrum inaugurated the function. The five children who are known as the five gems were the special guests for the assembly. Sruthy Norain Lal of 12B ,secretary of the girl`s cell read the report on the activities and plans of the cell. Variety entertainments followed in the form of vibrant dances, songs, speeches and recitations proving it to be a memorable day.

Star Day
Encouragement is essential in urging an individual to attain the desired goal.Christ nagar observes star day to bring out the best results in our students.This term star day was held on September 26 with 40 GOLD,40 SILVER and 101 BLUE star holders . CONGRATULATION to all the star holders and hope we will have more winners next time.

Onam Celebration
The first term came to an end with the OnamCelebration which was inaugrated by the famous poet Dr. Vinaya Chandran. The celebration hit the head lines in the local page with its giant Athapookalam.

Senior cadet - rated Best Compere.
Senior NCC Cadet Akhil Ramesh of XII C was rated as the best compere in all Kerala. He was also given prizes for Best performance in the Army attachment camp held at Pangod military station.

Students’ Day
Students’ Day was observed this year on 17th August 2006 when students took over the school for a day and carried out all administrative and academic activities. Master Sundar S officiated as the Principal and Kumari Chaithra as Vice-Principal. Master Anish A and Kumari Prangya Pandav discharged their duties as Administrative Assistants. Student Teachers were around teaching the classes in all seriousness. Perfect discipline prevailed in the school campus throught the school time. At the end of the day, best teacher awards and best class awards were distributed by the Principal in charge Rev. Fr Cyriac Kanayil CMI.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
As per the directive of the Supreme Court, Environmental Education has been made a subject of compulsory study in all classes.

Psychological orientation programme
A psychological training module was conducted for the plus one students (exclusively for girls) by the school counselor as part of an activity of the girls cell.

A Workshop for Std V
A two day Malayalam workshop was conducted for the students of standard V on 9th & 12th August in order to overcome the problem of spelling mistakes.

Quiz
Sunder S, Suraj and Jogi Jacob of the 12th std won the third prize in the Chinmaya Quiz Fest. They also recieved certificates and a cash prize of Rs.1000.Anish A and Aravind S won the first prize in the AVP founder’s day quiz competition.

Teachers Orientation Programme
A psychological orientation programme was organised for the teachers on the 11th and 12th of May, 2006, which mainly focussed on the different aspects of the professional life of the teacher community. Mr Murali Nair, Auditor and Professional Trainer, Inter-national Certification Limited, conducted a session on attitudinal change.
Shri K. Gireesan, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Care Centre, Trivandrum also spoke on the occassion.

An enlightenment for students
S.O.U.L. , Society of Universal Love, working for the welfare of the poor and invalids conducted a programme in the school auditorium. “The programme is intented to entertain and enlighten the youngsters and spread the message of universal love. We are sure that this will help reduce the stress in children and remove their anxiety related to their school work. We encourage them to think positively and look at the brighter side of life and develop a socially healthy attitude towards other less fortunate fellow human beings” said the Secretary Sri James S Mathew who is also a parent of our institution.

Retreat
A retreat was organized for the christian students of the school on 10th June by Rev Fr. Philipose Thunduvalilchira CMI and Rev Fr Lijo Pathickal CMI.

Kalagramam
Students of Christ Nagar bagged the 2nd prize for the partriotic song (group). Sneha Biji of 10 B won the 2nd prize in the girls solo and Akshay Raj Nair won the 3rd prize in the boys solo competition.

Chris Gala A Cultural Integration
Chrisgala, a spectacular event crafted by students of Std XII was celebrated on the 2nd of August. The ceremony was declared inaugurated by Shri Soorya Krishnamoorthy, a renowned cultural activitst, by a Thampuru recital. Speaking on the occassion he stressed on the importance of ‘culture’ in the life of a human being. The presidential address was given by Rev. Fr Gregory Perumalil CMI, Manager, Christ Nagar Group of Schools. In the absence of the Principal Rev. Fr Paul Mangad CMI, Rev. Fr Cyriac Kanayil CMI, Bursar, honoured the Chief Guest by presenting a Memento. Thirteen schools from in and around the city participated in the competitions and St. Mary’s Central School, Poojappura emerged as winners. The event came to a close in the evening by the distribution of prizes by the famous Dancer Dr Neena Prasad. Mr Thomas Mani, Academic Co-ordinator addressed the audience. The programme convener Master Jogi Jacob, the Head Boy of the school welcomed the audience and Kumari Renjini S proposed the vote of thanks.s.

Madhuram Malayalam
The Madhuram Malayalam programme of the Mathrubhumi daily was introduced in our school on 6th July. K.G. Nandakumar Sharma, Circulation Manager, Mathrubhumi, spoke on the occassion, giving the children a detailed explanation as to what is the programme all about and why are they introducing it in schools. The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr Madhu Ommalloor, Director, B.S.S. Computer Centre, Trivandrum. Principal, Rev. Fr Paul Mangad also spoke on the occassion thanking the guests. Since the programme is intended to enhance the reading habits of the children, every class is given a copy of the newspaper.

Inauguration of class library
The inauguration of the class library of Std X was done by Sri Sukumar, the vetran orator and humourist. Speaking on the occassion, Shri Sukumar kept the children laughing for about an hour by his thought provoking humour. Our Principal Rev. Father Paul Mangad presided over the function. Mr Vimal Kumar, Secretary, Taluk library council gave his felicitation on the occasion. Mr Sudhachandran, Secretary, Sree Narayana library delivered the vote of thanks. The class newspapers of Std X were also released during the occassion.

Youth Festival 2006
The school Youth Festival 2006 was inaugurated by Shri N Aiyappan IAS, District Collector, Trivandrum, on 22nd July. While delivering his inaugural address, the Collector stressed on the importance of co-curricular activities in student life. He also caught the attention of the students by singing a melodious song. Rev. Fr Paul Mangad CMI, who presided over the function, also addressed the gathering. Mr Thomas Mani, Academic Co-ordinator, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the guests and to the children. The inaugural ceremony was followed by competitions, at various venues on recitation, elocution, light and classical music, mapillapattu, and instrumental music.

Thursday Special
In order to be in touch with the developments around the world and to give the students an opportunity to display their talents, Thursday mornings are set aside for assembly. The assembly is accompanied by the lively band of young musicians who play pieces of marching song to which students march to and from the assembly. The inaugural assembly was conducted by class XII A on 6th July and was followed by class XII B on 21st July. The remaining classes will stage their talents on forth coming Thursdays through out the year.

School Resource Group (SRG) Meetings
Headed by the Principal and the Academic Co-ordinator, a panel of teachers from each department gets together to discuss the difficulties faced by the teachers and students concerning each subject after which they arrive at solutions to enhance the teaching learning process. Subject council meetings and staff meetings are also held at regular intervals to assess the progress of the students both in the curricular and co-curricular fields.

The new Grading system for plus two
As a part of the revised curriculum new text books were introduced for the plus two classes. Teachers of all subjects handling the higher secondary sections attended orientation classes at various venues in the city to get familiarized with the text books

Investiture
Our school chose 22 June 2006 as the investiture day for the student leaders of the new academic year to be sworn in. The assembly was welcomed by the senior teacher Ms Annie Ignatius. It was a solemn yet impressive ceremony, where, as per custom, the assembly began with the hoisting of the school flag by the Principal Rev. Fr. Paul Mangad CMI. Rev. Fr Principal first administered the oath of office to the new school leader Jogi Jacob and to the head girl Renjini S and handed over the school flag. Then the four house leaders were handed over the house flags. The newly chosen school leader then administered the oath to the other house leaders.
