Respected Teachers, Dear Parents, Beloved Students, Dear Supporting Staff, and Well-wishers…
A New Chapter in a Golden Legacy
Fifty years ago, in 1976, this institution was born from a vision to nurture minds, shape character, and build futures. Fifty years is more than a number; it is a story of faith, dedication, countless lessons, and generations shaped within these walls. I feel humbled to join a community with such a rich legacy and high expectations. Today, as I assume the office of the principal of Christ Nagar English Higher Secondary School, I do so with deep humility and profound gratitude. I am here not to replace the past, but to carry its torch forward. This Golden Jubilee year is not merely a celebration of years gone by. It is a commitment—a promise that the next fifty years will shine even brighter. And that promise begins with us, today. As we celebrate this milestone, I want to share some simple yet powerful commitments that, I think will guide our school’s life ahead.
TO OUR BELOVED STUDENTS: THE HEART OF CHRIST NAGAR
You are the reason this school breathes. Every corridor echoes with your laughter, every classroom holds your dreams, and every morning assembly begins with your energy. As your Principal, I have 3 simple but transformative expectations from each one of you: GPF - (Gentleness, Punctuality & Focus) - the success mantra for this academic year.
Be GENTLE
In a world that often confuses aggression with confidence, choose gentleness. Be gentle with your classmates who struggle, gentle with your teachers who care, and gentle with yourselves when you falter. Gentleness is not weakness. It is the strength to treat others with dignity even when no one is watching… And it should be the heart of our Christ Nagar Culture. A polite word can disarm anger, build bridges, and open doors that talent alone cannot. Let "Thank you," "Please," and "May I help you?" become our natural vocabulary.
Be PUNCTUAL
Punctuality is more than arriving on time. It is a visible sign of respect for others and for the opportunities we are given. When students enter the classroom on time, the day starts with calmness and purpose. When teachers begin lessons punctually, learning becomes uninterrupted and consistent… So my humble request to all of you is to be PUNCTUAL everyday. As a school, we will honour schedules - bell times, deadlines, meetings - not as rigid rules but as promises we keep to each other. Time is the one resource we all receive equally - 24 hours, no more, no less. The difference between those who achieve and those who merely dream, often comes down to how they honour time. Arrive early. Respect others' time, as Punctuality is the first language of discipline.
Be FOCUSED
In a world full of distractions, the ability to focus is one of the greatest gifts we can cultivate. Distractions are everywhere. But focus is our superpower. When you sit to study, study 100%. When you play, play 100%. When you listen, listen 100%. Half-hearted efforts yield half-hearted results. Give your full attention to whatever is before you, and excellence will follow. Mother Teresa once said “You are called not to be successful, but to be faithful”… If you are faithful and focused you will be successful too. Together, we will create an environment where attention is prized and focus is cultivated.
Let us remember: We are not just preparing for exams. We are preparing for life. The new success mantra - GPF (gentleness, punctuality, and focus) will serve you long after you leave these gates as these 3 are not separate pillars but threads that weave into the character we wish to build: disciplined yet compassionate, ambitious yet grounded. I am sure that with this success mantra we can work wonders.
TO OUR RESPECTED TEACHERS: THE ARCHITECTS OF TOMORROW
You hold the most sacred responsibility in any society. You don't just teach subjects; you shape minds and lives. Teachers, you are not just employees of this institution. You are its soul. Whatever the school has today, is because of you…. And whatever our students have achieved is also because of your hardwork, dedication and commitment… I take this opportunity to congratulate all our teachers who have worked day and night to make CNEHSS proud in the last SSLC and Higher Secondary examinations. And in this jubilee year, let us recommit to being the kind of teachers our students will remember and cherish - not for the syllabus we completed, but for the confidence we built. In this Golden Jubilee year, I urge you to embrace 2 qualities more deeply than ever before: the mantra is EC
Be EMPATHETIC
Behind every distracted student, there may be a worried home. Behind every angry outburst, may be a silent struggle inside. Behind every falling grade, may be a crisis of confidence. Before we judge, let us understand. Let us walk beside our students, not just ahead of them. Sometimes the most important lesson we teach is simply the assurance: "I believe in you."
Be CREATIVE
The world our students will enter is not the world we grew up in. Rote learning and rigid methods will not prepare them for tomorrow. Let us experiment with our teaching by using stories, debates, projects, technology, and real-world connections. Let us make our classroom a space where curiosity thrives and questions are celebrated. Creative teachers don't just transfer knowledge—they ignite it.
TO OUR DEAR SUPPORTING STAFF: THE UNSUNG PILLARS
To our administrative staff, office assistants, librarians, lab attendants, cleaning staff, security personnel, bus drivers, and every member of our support team: You are the backbone of Christ Nagar. Long after the bell rings and the classrooms empty, you ensure this institution continues to function with grace and order. My expectation of you is simple, yet vital:
Be SUPPORTIVE & HELPFUL
Supportive - not just in doing your duty, but in doing it with a smile that makes a WORRIED PARENT FEEL WELCOME, A LOST STUDENT FEEL GUIDED, AND A STRESSED TEACHER FEEL ASSISTED.
Helpful - not because it is asked, but because it is needed. Every interaction is an opportunity to reflect the warmth of Christ Nagar. You may not stand at the podium, but you stand at the foundation of everything we achieve. Thank you all for all that you are to this alma mater.
TO THE PARENTS: THE SUPERHEROES OF OUR KIDS
The best thing we can give our children is our time. I warmly invite you to spend quality time with your children, be present in their joys and challenges, and create a safe and open space where they feel free to share everything with you. Your love, attention and listening are the strongest support we can give our students as they learn and grow. Together let us nurture confident, kind and curious learners.
A Shared Vision for the Next Fifty Years
Fifty years ago, someone believed that a school in Trivandrum could change lives. That belief became Christ Nagar. Today that belief lives in us - in the student who helps a classmate, in the teacher who stays late to explain a doubt, in the staff member who ensures the campus is safe and welcoming.
Let this Golden Jubilee year not be just a look back at what was, but a launchpad for what can be. Let us build a Christ Nagar where:
• Every student leaves not just educated, but ennobled.
• Every teacher teaches not just subjects, but values.
• Every staff member serves not just a role, but a purpose.
Together, let us make the next fifty years a story worth telling. Together let us make things better.
Thank you. God bless you all! God bless Christ Nagar!
